The last time Holden ran for Congress in 2006, he received $270,000 in campaign contributions from labor unions and their political action committees.
What did the unions get for their quarter of a million dollars plus? They got his vote to stack the deck in their favor for unionization efforts.
In 2007 Congressman Tim Holden and House Democrats voted to approve a payoff for labor union support, named the “Employee Free Choice Act.” (HR 800, Roll #118). The bill actually threatens free choice by eliminating secret ballots for union certification elections. It would substitute “card check,” whereby a union needs only to “persuade” 51% of employees to publicly sign a card in favor of union representation.
Secret ballots are America’s gold standard for elections, but not for Democrats and their union paymasters. This outrageous scheme will permit unions to intimidate workers into voting for union representation largely benefiting only union bosses and politicians.
In Philadelphia in August 2006, the UNITE union was convicted of illegally using license plate numbers from employee parking lots to obtain addresses from motor vehicle records, and “visiting” workers’ homes to “encourage” support for unions.
What would eliminating the secret ballot for union certification elections mean to American workers? Watch the video below to find out:

Tim Holden 2006 and 2007 ratings from the Alliance for Worker Freedom were0.00%.
Holden voted, among other things, to force public sector collective bargaining on the states by the federal government (HR 980), to eliminate the private ballot from union certification elections (HR 800), and against oversight of the misuse of union funds.
The $270,000 unions contributed to Holden’s 2006 re-election campaign really paid dividends.
