Toni Gilhooley for Congress :: Lower Taxes. Cut Spending.

"Our current congressman has lost touch with the people of this district. He voted against the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts and vowed to vote against their retention in 2010. If elected, I will vote to retain these tax cuts and I will work to cut wasteful spending in Washington,” said Toni Gilhooley, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, PA 17th District.

1.) STIMULATE THE ECONOMY
Toni believes in rational tax policy, cutting individual and business taxes to spur economic growth. She will fight to retain the 2001 and 2003 tax rate reductions immediately while the Congress works on meaningful tax reform.

2.) CREATE A REAL ENERGY PLAN
The United States should begin drilling for oil in ANWR and offshore while also exploring alternative energy sources.

3.) END WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT SPENDING
Toni has some innovative ideas to improve government spending guidelines and reduce waste. Irresponsible pork barrel spending to prolong political careers must end.

4.) IMMIGRATION
Toni supports a viable, legal immigration system. Sealing our borders first is central to controlling the problem of illegal immigration. Enforcing current immigration law is a reasonable first step.

5.) PROTECT OUR NATION
Toni believes our nation’s security is dependent on maintaining the world’s strongest military. She will vote to ensure the military is properly funded in both times of war and peace. We cannot let our guard down on the war on terror or to those who want to destroy our way of life.

6.) PROTECT 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHTS
A 25-year veteran of the PA State Police, Toni has always respected as an individual right the right to keep and bear arms. Toni is a member of the NRA and the 2^nd Amendment Sisters.

7.) CURE HEALTHCARE
Toni favors using the strengths of the free-enterprise system to preserve the best healthcare research and delivery system in the world and using market forces to make it more affordable and its benefits available to more Americans. Patients are the first concern, but health care providers, pharmaceutical companies and insurers are legitimate stakeholders in reforming a market-based system.

8.) STOP THE RAID ON SOCIAL SECURITY
Social Security payroll taxes are raided for budgetary use in general sending bills for other purposes. Toni supports an end to this practice to fulfill our government's contract with senior citizens. We must stop spending Social Security taxes inappropriately.

9.) PRO-LIFE & FAMILY
Promoting and defending a culture of life is critical for our nation's social, economic and moral health. Life is a precious gift. There are those who see nothing wrong with destroying life even months into pregnancy. As your member of Congress I will provide real voice to the unborn.
